SPONSORSHIP
OUR COMMUNITY & SPONSORSHIP ACTIVITIES:
Part of our ethos of giving back to our local communities is our focus on sponsorship. We take sponsorship very seriously, and we take pride in partnering with prestigious events and organisations as well as talented recipients who benefit in numerous ways from our ongoing support.

Our CEO, Jonny Powell, has a long affiliation with the world of squash and enjoys being able to give back to the sport and provide a platform for the next generation of professional players.

THE COLIN PAYNE KENT OPEN:
The Kent Open has been supported by the Powell family for the past decade in many different ways. It is now through our sponsorship that the tournament has been renamed in remembrance of Colin Payne. Colin was a former World Top 50 player, former Kent No. 1 Player, and the British Open Over 50’s Champion who tragically passed away in 2016.
The Kent Open is a fantastic platform for young players who are looking to climb the professional ladder by gaining valuable world ranking points. Our sponsorship gives these players a chance to prove their skills at one of the biggest squash events in the UK and gives them opportunity to compete for the prestigious Kent Open title.
In mid-December 2021, brother and sister pair Curtis and Torrie Malik made headline news by becoming the top seeds in that week’s Colin Payne Kent Open, which was hosted at the Tunbridge Wells Squash Club. Their brother, Perry, added to the family affair, joining the tournament as number 4 seed. It’s clear that future of this sport is an exciting one, and 501 are thrilled to support to the growth of the game.
